APPI qualified

The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute

Picture
The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) is firmly established as a leading force for training Chartered Physiotherapists in the delivery of safe and effective Pilates. It is now widely recognized as a quality standard for Pilates. Its members are fully qualified Physiotherapists drawn from Australia, UK, Europe and Asia.

APPI Modified Pilates has been devised by Physiotherapists and based on research. The APPI has modified the original 34 mat work exercises, creating a more progressive approach to core stability training. Physiotherapy research has shown that anyone who has experienced at least one episode of lower back pain in the past, will have weaker spinal muscles. Without specific rehabilitation, these deep postural muscles remain weak and therefore predispose individuals to pain and dysfunction of the spine.  Therefore, in line with latest research, your Pilates exercises have been ‘modified’ for people who have spinal problems, to ensure safety at all times.

The APPI only train Physiotherapists or equivalent degree specialist so you can be rest assured that your Instructor has the highest level of training and is able to provide safe and effective programs to suit your individual needs.
