About our Classes
Classes are held in Malvern, Worcester ( St Johns and Barbourne) and the surrounding areas - Kempsey, Hanley Swan, Rushwick, and Powick all have classes. To find out if there are spaces available for your chosen class, please contact us.
How to begin
Everyone needs to attend a 6 week beginner’s course initially. After this you can join the class most appropriate to your needs. The classes are taught at a variety of levels to suit individual needs and offer the maximum benefit. Alternatively you can have some private one to one sessions with an instructor before joining a class when you both feel you are ready. Classes are small so we can make sure you perform each exercise correctly as it is the quality not quantity of movement which is important in Pilates.
All classes use small equipment items at certain times. e .g. resistance bands, small balls, stability rollers. There are also some Ball classes using the large stability balls – these are level 2 and 3 classes.
The different classes
Beginners – No previous experience of Pilates is required. This class teaches the basic principles and beginner level exercises. Suitable for everyone. These courses are usually 6 weeks.
Rehab classes - suitable for people with medical problems such as arthritis, joint replacements, MS, stroke, cancer survivors or with general mobility problems. This is a small class taught by a physiotherapist able to tailor exercises to individual needs.
Pilates for Back pain - similar to the Rehab classes but with the bulk of the exercises aimed at helping the mobility, flexibility and strength in the joints and muscles that are often affected when we have back pain. Fear of movement and exercise after periods of backpain is common and this class will boost your confidence and help you get moving again!
Level 1 or Improvers – Suitable for people moving on from a beginner course or for those preferring to continue at a steady pace due to medical problems such as low back pain or mobility problems.
Level 2 - A more challenging class for people with more experience of Pilates ready to make a steady progression.
Level 3 - An advanced class suitable for fit strong people carrying no significant injuries or medical problems.
High Intensity Pilates - a challenging fast-paced class using pilates exercises and deep stretching to improve fitness, strength and flexibility.
Some classes are suitable for a mixture of abilities as exercises can be modified to make them more or less challenging so these levels are just a guide to help you choose a suitable class.
